Important information regarding lead times

Global supply chain disruptions continue to affect the availability of key electrical components essential in the construction of electric infrastructure. Cass County Electric Cooperative (CCEC) is facing increasingly long lead times on transformers and other materials that will delay new construction. In addition, CCEC is seeing an increase in prices of these products due to commodity volatility in steel, copper, resin, petroleum, freight charges, and workforce issues.

Continued supply chain disruptions will continue to impact when CCEC will be able to supply power for your project. Main disruption will be in supplying power to subdivisions, in the past when installing electrical infrastructure to a subdivision all the transformers would be installed at the same time.

Moving forward, CCEC will not be able to continue in that fashion due to the constraints in transformer deliveries. Consequently, developers and builders will need to work in tandem with CCEC in the build-out of your subdivision such that we can continue to provide power to the areas that will see homes being built first. CCEC will do its best to help keep your project on schedule. This will require you to be in close contact with us on project progress along with giving us a firm commitment regarding your service needs as soon as possible.

If you are planning on any new projects and have not been in contact with Cass County Electric, we want you to be aware that we are currently seeing lead times on many items out 52 weeks or more that would be required to serve a new development, building or home. This means some projects may not see power until 2024.

Please contact our engineering department at 701-356-4455 or contact us here for questions or to request information on our new construction procedures. We also would be happy to meet with you individually to plan the best way to provide service to your project.
